Vinyl Prints and Car Washes
Can I Take My Vehicle Through a Car Wash After Installing Vinyl Graphics?
Whether you have vehicle decals, stickers, reusable stickers, transfer decals, printed graphics, or a partial vehicle wrap, one of the most common questions we hear is, can I go through a car wash?
The Short Answer
Yes. When installed correctly, our vehicle graphics are designed to withstand normal driving conditions, rain, and routine vehicle washing.
The most important factor isn’t the car wash itself. It’s the quality of the installation.
Before Your First Wash
Make sure your graphics are:
- Fully adhered to the vehicle
- Free of lifted edges or corners
- Installed without wrinkles or trapped debris
- Given enough time for the adhesive to bond (we generally recommend waiting 24–48 hours after installation before washing, whenever possible)
Once the vinyl is fully bonded, normal washing should not be an issue.
Automatic Car Washes
Most automatic car washes are safe for properly installed vinyl graphics.
However:
- Touchless car washes are always the safest option.
- Soft cloth washes are generally acceptable.
- Older car washes with aggressive rotating brushes may increase wear over time, especially around edges and seams.
Hand Washing
Hand washing is always the best option if you want to maximize the life of your graphics.
Use:
- Mild automotive soap
- A soft sponge or microfiber cloth
- Clean water
Avoid abrasive brushes or harsh chemicals that could prematurely wear the laminate.
